*************************** We just caught an error on the Sportsman points page. The posted points in the souvenir building were correct, but the ones posted on the "Points" page had been adjusted for missed races. Obviously this won't be done until the end of the season. *************************** Don't forget that we go off our summer schedule this coming Saturday, September 4, and open at 1:00 PM. Time trials will get underway at 2:00 and we hope to start eliminations around 5:00 PM. The "Dial-in-for-Dollars" pot is over $4,500. We'll be running for this Saturday and Sunday.
The NHRA Georgia Drag Racing State Championships are coming September 5, and will be the second day of our Jerry Barker Motorsports two-day event for Summit Points. We're going to hold the line on entry fees, keeping them at the regular price, but the purse will be enhanced on Sunday and the special "Wally" plaque will be awarded for the first time in the state of Georgia. Sunday Purse Purse is guaranteed through Semi Finals - Quarter finals paid if 32 cars make first round. See "Race fees/Payout" for Junior Dragster information. The special "Wally" plaque will be awarded to all Sunday winners, including Junior Dragsters.
Tuning and testing will take place as usual Friday night with the gate opening at 6:00 and open time runs from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. ****************************
DAVID RAGAN FORD MUSTANG DAY IS COMING SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19. Details will be posted soon. **************************** Saturday, August 21, 2010
Saturday, August 21, 2010 Danny Payne missed the $4,115.25 "Dial-in-for-Dollars" contest by only eight thousandths of a second to start competition in Saturday's Jerry Barker Motorsports ET Racing Series event. The first winners of the night were Danny Towe in the 7.50 Index Eliminator and David Brand in the 6.50 class. Towe took advantage of a red light by Chris VanLandingham and Towe outlasted Casey Prince for the 6.50 win. Junior Dragster (age 13-17) was won by Parker Suggs over Brittany Harper. The 8-12 winner was Charlie Smith over Madison Kennedy. The Pro ET final came down to Matthew Castleberry and Schafer Suggs with Suggs having a mechanical problem giving the win to Matthew. The Sportsman final was taken by Josh Renfroe as he eliminated many-time champion, C.J. Johnson, and the last run of the night was the Super Pro final between Rodney Phagan and Mrs. B.J. Pittman. B.J. ran the eighth mile six thousandths too quickly giving the win to Rodney. Details of the final rounds are on the "Winners" page and points are updated through 8-21. **************************** Congratulations to Ryan Haynie, who was leading Motorcycle points going into the final race of the season. A rainout finalized the Summit points standing, giving Haynie the championship by less than one round over Kevin Windham. Ryan will be a part of our team at South Georgia Motorsports park and will represent SDR at the NHRA Gatornationals next year in the Race of Champions. **************************** Congratulations to Dillan Kyle, who won the age 10 championship in Junior Dragster competition at the NHRA Junior Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals in Bristol! **************************** Notes from Ed is back and was revised August 21. Click on the picture for the link. **************************** Mark's Automotive and Performance Center and Savi Graphics are once again making things more interesting for Junior Dragster racers with a great sponsorship addition. Mark's Automotive is adding $50 and a medal for the winner in the age 13-17 race and Savi Graphics is doing the same for the 8-12 winner. This will raise the total for both winners to $125. The Fowlers are making this addition retroactive to include race #1 of March 6. This is in addition to the points fund for the top points finishers sponsored by SSK Realtors, Kathy Sellers. Thanks to all of these who have done so much to promote the Junior Dragster program! Please remember our sponsors when you are in need of their services! **************************** Diapers really help protect you from oil under the tires and save us a ton of time and money with cleanup. Don't forget that we will pay an extra $100 to Jerry Barker Motorsports ET Series or CSR Super Street Series winners who are using one during the '10 season. Click on the DRE logo above for more information. **************************** Order pictures of YOUR car online. Click on "Photos" and follow the link for photos taken at the track. ****************************
